Many nationality groups form student societies during their time at the University of Birmingham. This is an excellent way to keep in contact with home and also provides an opportunity to highlight your culture and customs in the UK. Student societies are also a useful point of contact for prospective students to Birmingham who may want to contact current students for information.
The Guild of students currently has a University of Birmingham Japan Scoiety for students from Japan or those interested in Japanese culture. For more informatin please contact:

What our students have to say...
Listen to Ai speak about her experience of studying on the Teaching English as a Foreign Language Programme.
Yuri Imamura - MA TEFL/TESL.
The University of Birmingham is located on a lively place, so I can concentrate on studying during the week, and enjoy the British life over the weekend. As for my course, MA TEFL/TESL, classmates are full of diversity such as nationalities, teaching experience or other cultural backgrounds. Although the course is hard for me because I have less experience as a teacher, I am highly motivated to keep up with classmates in every class.
Horii Sota - MSc Computer Science
I have found the flexibility in the curriculum (MSc Computer Science). My classmates have different purposes and backgrounds, and we optimize our study plans for our own purposes. I am enjoying this independent learning environment.
