As a graduate of the University of Birmingham forging a career in creative industry, we are delighted to invite you to this gala reception.

Join fellow alumni, staff and students from the creative disciplines, over drinks and canapés, to learn more about exciting new developments in teaching across digital media, communications, and creative industries.

See our students’ creativity in action as we showcase their work across Drama, Film and Music.

The event will be held at BFI Stephen Street and you can register your attendance here.

We look forward to welcoming alumni from across the fields of film and television, media and broadcasting, theatre and music, gaming and design, publishing and editing, journalism and writing, publicity and talent management, and digital marketing and brand management.

Joining us for the reception will be:

Linda Muirhead

Theatre Arts Manager

Having graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Linda worked up and down the UK - from Pitlochry Festival Theatre to Bristol Old Vic. Linda has worked on musicals, new writing, site-specific pieces, pantomimes, park promenade shows, youth theatre and large scale tours. After touring, Linda settled in Birmingham and worked with Birmingham Rep, Birmingham Opera Company, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and BBC Birmingham before joining the University of Birmingham in 2008 as Stage Manager.

Jemma Saunders

Film and Television Placements Coordinator

Jemma manages the course-embedded placements for the MA in Film & Television: Research & Production, a programme that she studied on in its previous iteration as History, Film & Television. She is passionate about supporting students to enter the creative industries, particularly in the West Midlands, and developing mutually beneficial relationships with organisations. Jemma is also undertaking a part-time audiovisual PhD, exploring screen representations of Birmingham.

Jo Sweet

Head of University Music and Concerts

Jo Sweet is Head of University Music and Concerts, a role encompassing student and community music-making, festival production, and opera and concert activity for The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, in the Elgar Concert Hall and the Department of Music. In addition to leading on the public concert programme of over 100 concerts a year, Jo teaches a module in Arts Management in the Department of Music and manages the University Music and Concerts Team. Jo joined the University in 2004 having previously worked at Birmingham Conservatoire, Warwick Arts Centre, and at Symphony Hall.
