An evening of discussion marking the 75th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush and of the founding of the NHS.

Join us for an evening of discussion, featuring perspectives from academics, students, and artists from across the West Midlands.

Marking the 75th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush, this event will shed light on the history of migration linked to the Windrush community and celebrate the valuable contributions they have made and continue to make.

The evening will include the premiere of a new film - Staying Power: Unity through Community. The film revisits some of the participants from the original Here to Stay photographic exhibition, which was commissioned to mark the 70th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush and the birth of the NHS. Five years on, participants continue the narrative, sharing generational stories of community resilience.

This event is presented by University of Birmingham Race Equality NetworkSandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and Recognize Black Heritage and Culture as part of A Place to Call Home a new public programme of exhibitions, activities and events exploring what home means to all of us.
