Join us at the Lapworth Museum for a day of Family Fun!

Our family fun day will include short family friendly talks from a number of our Research Fellows and PhD students, along with Big Draw Activities and a terrible torch lit tour!

  • 11:30am - 'Terrifying Tetrapod's'. A short talk from PhD Students Daniel Cashmore & Andrew Jones.
  • 12:30pm - 'Baby Lyuba - Out of the ice'. A short talk from PhD Student Amy Jones.
  • 1:30pm - 'Echos from the deep'. A short talk from Postdoctoral Researcher Dr Matthew Fadler.
  • 4:00pm - Join us for a live Webinar with scientists on board the JOIDES Resolution research vessel currently in the Western Pacific Ocean. University of Birmingham researchers on board are working as part of a team collecting data and analysing it to gain an understanding of the Earth's development.
  • 5:00pm & 5:45pm - Terrible torch lit tours. Explore the museum by torch light and discover our most terribly terrifying objects. Both tours are limited to 15 children (parents/guardians welcomed), and are suitable for ages 5+.
  • 10:00am-5:00pm: Big Draw Activities. Help us to fill our wonderful dinosaur diorama as part of the Big Draw event.

All events are first come first served. Please meet at the visitor reception for the torch lit tours.
