Teaching

The Department of Accounting leads on the BSc Accounting & Finance and MSc Accounting and Finance programmes and contributes to a range of other programmes in Birmingham Business School, including the MSc Business Analytics, BSc Business Management, MSc Management, and Birmingham’s suite of MBA programmes. Our teaching spans three campuses: Edgbaston, Dubai and Singapore (in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Management).

Academic staff in the department combine extensive professional experience from working in accounting practice and industry with scholarship and research. We deliver innovative teaching to help students develop the technical skills they need to launch their career, as well as a deep understanding of the impact that accounting has on organisations, the economy, society and the environment, providing valuable insights that will benefit them throughout their working lives.

In line with Birmingham Business School’s mission to cultivate thought leadership for a responsible future, our programmes encourage students to explore the responsibilities that businesses, managers, and accountants have towards addressing the social and ecological challenges facing humanity, including those set out by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).
