Yan's PhD research delves into the sphere of training, learning, and development within the gig economy, a nascent yet rapidly evolving facet of the global economic landscape. The gig economy, typified by flexible, temporary employment often facilitated by digital platforms, has brought about paradigm shifts in traditional work patterns and dynamics. Her research aims to unravel the complex tapestry of professional growth in this gig economy. It seeks to understand how the workforce acquires new skills and competencies and adapts to shifting work models and technologies inherent to this economic sector.

Biography

In 2021, Yan earned her MSc from the University of Birmingham, which kickstarted her research career. Now, she dedicates her time to examining the interplay between the gig economy and aspects of training, learning, and development. As an early-stage researcher, she is driven to understand how these dynamics are shaping the modern workforce.
