I am the director of the Centre for the Study of Cultural Modernity, and I am also the Admissions Tutor for English Literature. Qualifications BA (Hons.) English, MPhil European Modernisms, PhD English Biography I took up a lectureship in Birmingham in 2013, having been a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow here previously. Teaching I teach the following modules in 2015-16: Prose (Year 1), Making it New: Modernism (Year 2), Henry James and Edith Wharton (Year 3) and PoMo Historical Fictions (Year 3). I also teach the MA module Modernism. Postgraduate supervision I supervise postgraduate students working on the representation of Egypt in nineteenth century British culture and on the Birmingham group of writers in the 1930s. I’d be happy to discuss potential postgraduate work on any aspect of late nineteenth and early twentieth century literature or visual culture. Research I publish on aspects of 19th and 20th Century fiction, non-fiction prose and art writing, including work on Adrian Stokes, Henry James, Roger Fry and Vernon Lee.
