Sheila has taught on the University of Birmingham PGDipEd secondary English course for the last 6 years. Her previous career was in teaching in comprehensive schools, of which 12 years was as Head of English and 10 years was in Assistant Head and Deputy Head posts. Her responsibilities have included: leadership of Teaching and Learning, curriculum development, strategic leadership of ICT and Technology College status, staff performance management and professional development, Equal Opportunities, community links. She has extensive experience as an English subject mentor and as a senior mentor in schools, having worked with a large number of Universities, including Birmingham, to support PGCE and GTP trainees across a range of subjects.
