Dr Yinglong He currently serves as an Honorary Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering, University of Birmingham. He is also a Lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences (MES), University of Surrey.

His previous roles include a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge in 2022, and an expert position at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre from 2019 to 2021.

Leading the Automated Resilient Transport Systems Laboratory at Surrey, Dr He's research is focused on creating innovative and sustainable transport solutions, particularly in areas like Connected and Automated Vehicles, electrified powertrains, and the application of machine learning in traffic management, along with strategies in optimal control and computer vision for autonomous vehicles.

Biography

Dr Yinglong He obtained his BEng and MEng in Energy and Power Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), respectively. Subsequently, he earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham (UoB).

In 2022, Dr He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) at the Institute of Astronomy (IoA) and the Department of Architecture, University of Cambridge. Currently, he holds the position of Lecturer in Automated Resilient Transport Systems (ARTs) at the School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences (MES), University of Surrey (UoS).

Between 2019 and 2021, he held an expert position in the Directorate for Energy, Transport, and Climate at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. Since 2023, he has held the title of Honorary Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, University of Birmingham.
