Title of PhD: Groundwater Quality: Rigorous sampling and interpretation of long-screen wells
Supervisors: Dr Mike Rivett (University of Birmingham), Professor John Tellam (University of Birmingham), Peter Dumble (Waterra In-Situ), Helen Sharp (Environment Agency)
Lindsay McMillan is undertaking NERC CASE funded doctoral research in partnership with Waterra UK Ltd and the Environment Agency. Her research aims to investigate how collection and interpretation of data from long-screened wells (wells open to >3m of aquifer) can be improved. Modeling allows process based understanding of flow from the surrounding aquifer and within the well to sampling devices. Field study sites allow rigorous validation of model outputs.
