A Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner, Maurice graduated from the University of Aston with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health. In a long career in Environmental Health he worked in a variety of inner city, urban and rural locations as an Environmental Health Practitioner. He completed a MBA at the University of Gloucestershire, prior to leaving local government as a Chief Officer in 2003, to take up the post of Head of Teaching in the Division of Environmental Health and Risk Management. He is the Programme Leader for the MSc in Environmental Health and the MSc in Public and Environmental Health Sciences. He leads the Ethics, Law and Health Protection module on the Masters in Public Health. Elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) in 2005, he is also a Member of the Institute of Housing; a Peer Reviewer for Healthy Communities for the Improvement and Development Agency, and a CIEH Professional Assessor.
