Harnessing a combination of sound worlds, The Nave to the Stage explores the simple beauty of plainsong and the rich harmonies of Rachmaninov, through to the brilliance of the Rat Pack and musicals. Created with repertoire taken from VOCES8’s debut no. 1 selling album on Decca Classics, this programme aims to exploit the acoustic capacities of the Barber Concert Hall. The result is a stunning concert presentation unique to this wonderful classical vocal ensemble. VOCES8 are joined by Birmingham University Singers in a performance of Mendelssohn’s Denn er hat seinen Englen befohlen über dir and Tippett’s evocative arrangement of Steal Away.
