[FEMALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN LECTURE THEATRE] “I chose to study Maths at Birmingham because when I came to the offer-holder visit day I felt that the dynamic between lecturers and students was really equal there wasn't a level of hierarchy I felt when I came here.”
[FEMALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN CLASSROOM] “So I chose Maths at Birmingham because there was a real community feel in our department that I didn't feel at any of the other universities that I visited.”
[MALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN LECTURE THEATRE] “On the offer holder visit days it was just sort of the feeling that I'd get, so I saw that the staff and students seem to get on really well and they said that they put on a lot of social events, so the School of Maths would always be putting on events like Christmas parties or midterm parties and they worked really well with MathSoc the Maths Society to really maximize the student experience here.”
[OFF CAMERA INTERVIEWER: “So why did you choose maths at Birmingham?”] [FEMALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN CLASSROOM] “When I came for the offer-holder visit day it was a really friendly environment and I felt really welcomed into the School. I spoke to a lot of the lecturers and students that are doing the course and it just felt really friendly.”
[MALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN CLASSROOM] “I chose to study Maths at Birmingham because the atmosphere here in the School is really friendly. All the lecturers and students they seem to know each other and have a really good relationship.”
[MALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN CLASSROOM] “I chose Birmingham because I liked the city and I liked how everything is really easily accessible by transport.”
[FEMALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN SCHOOL BREAKOUT AREA] “So as well as having a good city and having a great School of Maths, the lectures are very interesting. So I sit in the front so I get full attention. I sit at the front and I just love the lecturers I love their enthusiasm.”
[FEMALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN CLASSROOM] “Another reason why I chose Maths at Birmingham is because I really like this structure of the course and the range of modules is like a wide range you can choose from.”
[FEMALE STUDENT TALKING TO INTERVIEWER IN CLASSROOM] “When I came to the Open Day I just I remember just all the lecturers out doing their little demonstrations it was just so captivating and then I came back for the offer [holder] day and it was just it was the best one I went to and after that I was comparing every other uni to Birmingham, just nothing compared, so just yeah Birmingham was my choice from very early”
