Graduate Teaching Assistantships

The School of Physics and Astronomy has a number of Graduate Teaching Assistantships available for suitably qualified candidates.

The conditions of an Assistantship are similar to those of a Graduate Research studentship except that the Assistant will be required to teach up to six hours per week during University term-time throughout the four year tenure of the Assistantship.

Teaching Assistants will receive an EPSRC or STFC studentship plus the additional Teaching Assistantship Award for 4 years, i.e., £13,957 + £1500 respectively.

Teaching duties include Laboratory Demonstrating and Small Group Teaching and will be remunerated at the appropriate rates of pay.

Assistantships will be allocated on a competitive basis. Applicants are recommended to apply for a Research Studentship using the standard application form and to indicate in an attached letter that they wish to be considered for an Assistantship.
