David is interested in both cognitive and motor difficulties that can arise following stroke, and how these interact, affecting the way people move and function; he has a particular interest in the neglect syndrome.  David undertakes experimental research that aims to understand related problems arising in stroke survivors and contributes to the development of rehabilitative strategies to help overcome them.  He retains an honorary contract with the National Health Service and works as a physiotherapist alongside the Stroke Rehabilitation Team at Moseley Hall Hospital.

Qualifications

PhD Psychology (Birmingham) – 2004
MSc Clinical Neuroscience (Surrey) - 1998
Grad Dip Physiotherapy (Liverpool) – 1990

Biography

David qualified as a physiotherapist (1990) and then worked in the National Health Service for many years, specializing in neurological rehabilitation. He completed an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience (1998) and a PhD in Psychology (2004).  He was appointed Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham in October 2013.
