Biography

I did my undergraduate degree and postgraduate degrees here at Birmingham. I completed my doctorate in January 2017. My doctoral research, which explored the miraculous and marvellous in Latin narrative histories of the crusades, was supervised by Dr William Purkis. I began teaching in the Department of History as a PhD student in 2013.

Research

My research focuses on the religious cultures of Europe, the Mediterranean and the Near East in the central Middle Ages. I am currently revising my doctoral thesis, titled ‘Miracles and Marvels in Latin Narrative Histories of the Crusades, 1095-1204’, into a monograph for publication. I am also developing two research articles concerning twelfth and thirteenth-century histories of the crusades and the Latin East.
