Languages and Cultures pathway
Study one, two or three languages, alongside cultural modules.
Single language choices:

Two or three languages choices:
- Catalan
- English Language
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Mandarin Chinese
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish.
NB: When selecting two or three languages:
- One language must be French, German, Italian, Russian or Spanish.
- You may study one language from Beginners level, which may include French at post GCSE Level. English Language is only available at Advanced Level (post A Level).
This is our most flexible and broad pathway.
Alongside your language modules, you will be able to choose from a wide range of cultural modules, focusing on the history, film, literature, art, politics, and media of the countries whose language you are studying. You will also be able to take modules in Higher language acquisition within this pathway.
If you choose to focus on one language, in your first year you will take a ‘Module Outside the Main Discipline’ (there are over 100 options available) alongside modules in your chosen language, allowing you to explore a different or complementary discipline during your studies.
