We have a long tradition of welcoming students from the Netherlands. There are currently 112 Dutch students following a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University.

Holders of the Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO - University Preparatory Education) Diploma (Gymnasium A/B and Atheneum A/B) will be considered with the following grade equivalencies: 

A*AA - 8.0 
AAA - 7.7 
AAB - 7.5 
ABB - 7.2 
BBB - 7.0 

Subject specific requirements: 
A* - 8.5 
A - 8 
B - 7.5 

NB Grades 9-10 rarely awarded 


Holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognised Dutch university, or Bachelors degree from a recognised Hogeschool (University of Professional Education), or a good Doctoraal from a recognised Dutch university, with a minimum overall grade of 7 out of 10 for 2:1 equivalence, or 6 out of 10 for 2:2 equivalence, will be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes.

Holders of a good Doctoraal from a recognised Dutch university with a minimum overall grade of 7 out of 10, and/or a good Masters degree, will be considered for entry to postgraduate research programmes.

English Language

You will be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

If you do not have the required level of English or would like to improve your English before the start of the academic year, you can take one of our pre-sessional English language courses.

Undergraduate and postgraduate EU students (subject to meeting the eligibility criteria) starting their studies in 2018 or 2019 can apply for government loans for the duration of their course.
