The University of Birmingham welcomes applications from students from Colombia. A growing number of Columbian students are studying undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Birmingham in a range of disciplines.

Entry requirements  

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements. 

Foundation Pathway

For entry to our foundation programme, the Birmingham Foundation Academy, we would consider students who have obtained Grade 8 (80%) or 4/5 or grade B in the Título de Bachillerato or Examen de Estado (entry exam for tertiary education), to include 8 in Mathematics for the Engineering and Physical Sciences pathway.

The University will consider students who have taken GCE A Level examinations and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for entrance to undergraduate programmes.

Holders of the Bachillerato together with a recognised foundation programme, such as the Birmingham Foundation Academy, will be considered for entry to our Bachelor degree programmes. 


Holders of the Licenciado/Professional Title from a recognised Colombian university will be considered for our Postgraduate Diploma and Masters degrees. Applicants for PhD degrees will normally have a Maestria or equivalent.

English Language

You may be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.
