Anum Ahmed Pirkani

MSc Radio Frequency and Microwave Engineering

“My experience of the MSc in RF and Microwave Systems at the University of Birmingham had been exceptional. An amalgam of theoretical knowledge and its practical application developed skills which will help me excel in the industry. Interaction and idea sharing with well-versed professors was the best part.”

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements.

Please note: If you have taken exams which are from another country's national education system (eg SAT and AP exams from the USA) you should consult that country's page for qualification equivalence information. If you are unsure about the acceptability of your qualifications for entry to Birmingham please contact us for further details.

You will need to demonstrate a certain level of English in order to meet the demands of your programme. If English is not your first language, you will be required to provide evidence of an English Language qualification such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or alternative qualifications. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

Foundation Pathways

The University will consider students with a Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) (also called Intermediate Certificate), with at least grade B or 70%, to include grade B or 70% in Mathematics for our Engineering and Physical Sciences pathway.
For further information see the Foundation Pathways.

We will consider students who have taken A Level examinations and/or the International Baccalaureate (IB) for entrance to undergraduate programmes.
We will also consider students who have successfully completed a Bachelors (Honours) degree of at least two years duration.
Degrees must be from a Higher Education Commission recognised institution in Pakistan.

Students with a four year bachelor degree may be considered for entry to a postgraduate degree programme. Students with a bachelor degree of at least three years duration followed by a master's degree of one or two years duration may also be considered for postgraduate entry.

A CGPA of 3.2/4 and above from a recognised Pakistani university is sufficient to meet our standard entry criteria. To be considered for postgraduate research courses we will usually require students to have completed a masters degree.

A 2 year degree followed by a 3 year LLB will count as a full Bachelor’s degree.

All qualifications must be from recognised institutions. For further details on particular institutions please refer to Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission
