Bringing Birmingham to Yule - Plastic Santastic - Topper

Due to unforeseen circumstances, it is with regret that we have cancelled this festive event next Tuesday. Refunds are currently being processed and we apologise for any inconvenience this will have caused. Find out more about how plastic waste affects the environment from one of our researchers.

Join us for our latest offering of the popular ‘Bringing Birmingham to You’ series. This Christmas, spread cheer and festive fun with fellow alumni at the fabulously festive Cosy Club in the City Centre.

Enjoy drinks and scrumptious food, as we present Plastic Santastic - your roundup of the latest activity on campus and this year, focusing specifically on plastic pollution. Enjoy a mulled wine as you hear about the environmental work of leading academics at the heart of ‘Birmingham In Action’, the University’s recently launched fundraising and volunteering campaign.

During this special evening, you’ll hear from two of our researchers and discover not only how recycling your plastic can lead to ground-breaking consequences, but also what happens to your plastic pollution in rivers and oceans at Christmas, including how you can take action.

What’s more, as a Christmas treat, there will be a chance on the evening to win tickets to the Everyman Cinema! Give the people you love an experience they’ll love, instead of plastic.

Tickets are £5 and include some delicious festive drinks and nibbles. Booking in advance is essential and alumni are welcome to bring guests and friends of the University. Book now!

Please note: the event is being held in a first floor room with no lift access. There is a curtain to the room and a private bar.

'Bringing Birmingham to You' is an events series from the Alumni Office, bringing Birmingham academics to our alumni community. No prior knowledge of the subject matter is necessary. Academics will discuss and share their latest research and findings in an informal atmosphere outside of the usual lecture theatres, giving our alumni community a chance to meet some of the people helping lead the way in science and arts.
