Dates
Wednesday 28 October 2020 (20:00-21:00)

Wednesday 28 October
8.00pm – 9.00pm GMT | 4.00pm - 5.00pm EST | 1.00pm - 2.00pm PST

As we get close to the election date Scott Lucas will give an update on recent developments and take a look at who is leading in the polls. We will then break up into small groups to discuss the election in context of the following key issues

  • US Economy with Jimmy McLoughlin OBE (BA Political Science 2009), Former Business Director at No.10 Downing Street
  • Social issues (including health and race) with Dr Michell Chresfield, Lecturer in United States History
  • Law with Dr Gavin Byrne, Head of Internationalisation for Birmingham Law School
  • Foreign Policy and Security with Dr Adam Quinn, Senior Lecturer in American and International Politics and Professor David Dunn, Professor in International Politics

This is a great opportunity to explore your preferred topic in further depth. Each breakout session will be led by a Birmingham academic who will start by sharing their expertise on the topic before opening it up for discussion. At the end of the event everyone will join back together and the academics will share the key issues discussed and its impact on the election.

Places are limited. When booking you only need to select ONE of the available sessions.
