Student lives transformed by scholarships

The impact of going to university can be life-changing for students and their families, especially those who may be the first  in their family to access higher education or may have lacked the resources, role model or support to get there. Schemes like Pathways to Birmingham (PTB) can make the difference for less advantaged students, helping them to make informed choices, and giving academic and financial help while they are here. Watch students and Elizabeth Chandler, our Head of Outreach, discuss the impact of receiving that support.

As well as offering support while at university, scholarship programmes like Pathways to Birmingham can assist with careers and post-university life. By providing targeted workshops and internships, development opportunities and mentoring, schemes like P2B support the transition to further study and successful professional careers. Busy  Financial Product Analyst Shevina Shaw (BSc Psychology, 2020) made time to chat with us over Zoom about making the choice to go to university, and the impact that this has had on her life and that of her family.
