Recruit our students and graduates

The University of Birmingham has a rich tradition of developing its students into highly employable graduates. Explore exciting opportunities for your business to engage with high-calibre students at our Dubai campus.

We are proud to be highly sought after by employers, coming first in the UK in the High Fliers Graduate Market report 2023-2024 for 'universities targeted by largest number of top employers'*.

'Civic and Global' is one of six core pillars of the Birmingham 2030 Strategic Framework. Our Civic University Agreement captures how we will work with our local partners to continue to bring deep cultural, social, and economic benefits to our city and region. We value our strong links with employers and know that in order to best prepare our students for life after University, it is not sufficient just to provide them with an excellent education, they must also have skills, experience and industry insight gained from real-world application of their knowledge.

The Careers Network Dubai is here to help connect you to our student and graduate talent by providing a range of services and opportunities for you to engage with them. This could involve advertising your vacancies, facilitating and promoting events or working with you to design bespoke activities; we are here to share our expertise and assist you to reach the right students and raise your profile on our Dubai campus.

Whether you are a multinational, a start-up or a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), we are happy to tailor our services to meet your specific needs.

Careers Expo

Students stood talking to a business at a careers fair

The Careers Expo takes place on-campus twice a year. As a careers fair exclusive to University of Birmingham Dubai students and recent graduates. The fair provides an opportunity for recruiters of any size from all industries to promote their opportunities for the current academic year and beyond. Recruiters can access our large, diverse student community by meeting them in person at our Dubai Campus.

The fair provides an opportunity for our students and graduates to learn about different career opportunities, and network with potential employers to explore graduate schemes, internships, and work experience opportunities.

Mentoring

Mentoring is a unique opportunity that allows University of Birmingham Dubai students to enhance their experiences, by receiving one to one advice and guidance from a professional working in a particular sector. This can be a great way to understand how to succeed in this area and be better prepared for the working world beyond graduation.

Guest speaker events and visits

We are here to help you decide which events are suitable for your recruitment needs and are dedicated to ensuring your event is a success.

Meet with our students on campus or virtually to share insights into your organisation, your industry sector and recruitment processes. Whether you are recruiting to graduate roles, have placements, internships or work experience opportunities available, our students are keen to hear from you. Highlight your business and opportunities with us and tell our students what differentiates you from your competitors. Host a session on campus, a webinar with Q&A, or teach our students the skills they need to operate in your business by running an interactive session.

We also have options to get involved with sector specific panel style events. These sessions are run in conjunction with University of Birmingham Dubai subject schools and colleges in response to student sector interests. Get involved; share your knowledge of your industry sector, your career journey and what it’s like to work in your job role.

Could you host a group of students at your business? Visiting an employer and gaining an insight into what they do and how their business works provides students with an invaluable insight into the world of work and gives you exposure to our talented students.

Birmingham Dubai Award

The Birmingham Dubai Award (formerly the Personal Skills Award) is the University’s employability award for undergraduate students. The award supports students from all disciplines to develop, recognise and articulate their skills in preparation for real-world recruitment processes. The award-winning programme allows students to gain recognition for participation in extra-curricular activities. There is also an educational component which supports students to reflect on and effectively articulate their skills in graduate recruitment processes.

We encourage employers to take part in the Birmingham Dubai Award. We offer employer partner opportunities (reviewed in July/August of each year) for a select number of employers to help support with the Birmingham Award assessment process. The employer supporter package gives employers the opportunity to share information about their organisation to students undertaking the award, and to share their knowledge of graduate recruitment processes.

Advertise your vacancies

You can create a partnership with the University to have your opportunities advertised via the internal careers system. As an institute, we can advertise graduate vacancies, placements, internships, volunteering and part-time jobs by uploading these to our online vacancies and opportunities board.

The process is simple, user-friendly, and free of charge.  Students can search opportunities by type of job, degree discipline, sector of work and location. Students can also save searches and have vacancies emailed to them. To arrange this with the Dubai campus please forward your enquiry to employability team.

Please note that if you are a third-party provider - an external company or organisation which organises/facilitates international/overseas experiences, such as TEFL (Teach English as a foreign language), internships, placements, volunteering or field trips for UK campus students - we will require you to provide some additional information before advertising your opportunities. Please complete this information on the overseas opportunities registration form.
