Student medical insurance
Dubai Health Authority (DHA) compliant medical insurance is compulsory for all students, whether on a University-sponsored student visa or an existing visa.

Medical insurance requirements
As part of the Dubai visa laws, all students must have health insurance for the duration of their visa.
DHA-compliant medical insurance aims to cover most expenses incurred by students across a wide network of hospitals and clinics in the UAE, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency admissions.
Insurance through the University
To facilitate access to medical insurance, the University of Birmingham Dubai has partnered with AXS and ADNIC. This partnership offers students under University visa sponsorship a comprehensive and competitively priced medical insurance plan. Please note that the University itself does not provide the medical insurance; ADNIC is the provider. If you choose this insurance, your contract will be directly with ADNIC.
University of Birmingham Dubai visa-sponsored students who opt for medical insurance through the University will receive coverage after obtaining their student visa. We therefore strongly recommend that students take out travel insurance to cover medical costs for the first 1-2 months of their time in Dubai.
Both new and returning students can access ADNIC medical insurance through the University on a paid basis. Students are responsible for annually paying the insurance cost to the insurer, while the University will facilitate the setup of the insurance as part of the visa application process through AXS.
Students may also arrange their own medical insurance, provided it is compliant with the DHA.
