Economics at the University of Birmingham Dubai teaches you the science behind decision-making and managing resources. This is fundamental to succeed in the current competitive global business market.

This programme is accredited by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education

Economics is the science behind how people and society make difficult choices and manage resources. Studying at the University of Birmingham Dubai, you will receive a practical economic education, drawing on examples of how people, businesses and governments in Dubai and the wider region make sound decisions to manage scarcity.

Why study this course?

Dubai is a vibrant economic hub, so studying here means you get the best of both worlds – you will study a broad-based degree that will open up many career opportunities without having to leave the country.

Mentoring is a feature of the economic community; at Dubai, our small cohort means you will have access to experts in a diverse range of fields in economics, personally aligned to your individual aspirations.

  • You will be taught by economic experts in a research-active learning environment rated Gold standard by TEF
  • You will gain the same globally respected qualification from Triple-Crown accredited Birmingham Business School as offered on the UK campus without leaving Dubai
  • You have access to global career opportunities and ministry accreditation also opens up exciting prospects in this booming UAE region, as you will be eligible for sponsored government-level jobs in the expanding economic sector
  • Economics is a broad-based subject and you will be taught to be an independent thinker, opening up varied career opportunities not limited to business – our graduates have gone on to work as NGOs in developing countries, the UN and the World Bank

Economics is the course most suited for pursuing a career in Finance. Every module has helped prepare me in one way or another, whether it be microeconomic theory in relation to how firms and industries operate, or the Excel and computer skills I developed across the three years.
