In today's globalised world, effective and fair people management is crucial. Our MSc Human Resource Management course emphasises responsible business, decent work, and exemplary people management, central to our teaching and research, preparing you to lead with integrity and impact.
Birmingham Business School is home to one of the strongest research-led HRM groups and clusters. And this is important because it combines both studies of organisational behaviour, of leadership, and of employment relations. And that combination is incredibly important to develop a well-rounded understanding, really, of the key elements of theory and practise that you need in the workplace.
We like to champion responsible employment and social people management in the world of work. Globalisation means that there is a lot of changes in the world of work generally. And what we try to do in this course is to engage with graduates to develop their critical skills, especially becoming more aware and ethically aware of the key issues at hand.
The course itself is designed to equip you, to promote key ideas to promote your skills in terms of resource development, organisational development and also to be aware of very important and key issues around responsible business practises, you will begin the MSc HRM with a core module that helps underpin the essential functions of resource development, organisation, motivation, and reward. And also, you will look at employment relations.
One, for example, that I'm particularly interested in is the future of work and what that will look like in the 2020s and beyond. Modules cover a combination of theory and practise. And you will be also working closely with ideas and external industry speakers.

In terms of employment, what kind of careers and jobs would you expect after you graduate? The MSc programme is suitable for graduates from any undergraduate discipline. And this is important, but what we really like to see are students who have an interest in human resource management perhaps or employment relations, or professionals who want to further their career by pursuing a Master’s degree.
You will be engaged with critical thinking and become a more ethically aware and morally responsible manager, employee and citizen, equipped to promote good people management ideas and practices in workplaces and wider society.

This course will run over 12 months in a full-time-mode or 24 months in a part-time mode.
Our MSc Human Resource Management course offers a distinctive and advanced intellectual foundation in people management and employment relations, both nationally and globally. It equips graduates with critical thinking skills to become reflective, evidence-led practitioners and experts in the world of work. By integrating academic theory with real-life practice, we ensure our students gain a comprehensive understanding of effective people management.

To secure your place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, you must meet both our general entry requirements and the specific criteria for your chosen course. Your application will be carefully reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will determine if you will receive an offer.
In order to be considered, applicants will have or should be expecting to achieve an Honours degree (2:1 or higher) or postgraduate diploma from a UK university (or overseas equivalent) in any subject. Applicants who demonstrate being able to exceed the minimum entry requirements will be given preference.
If you are an international student, you will need to demonstrate you have a suitable level of English proficiency, usually through the form of an IELTS or equivalent qualification.

We charge an annual tuition fee. The fees quoted are by full time or part time per year of study. For those studying courses over two or more years, the tuition fee will also be payable in subsequent years of your programme.
Tuition fees can be paid in full or in three instalments per year of study.
