In our digital age, communication is more crucial than ever. This programme will prepare you to engage critically with various theories, methods and media practices, paving the way for your next career step or further academic research in the fields of digital media and communication.

The course runs over 12 months full-time. You can also study this programme on a part-time basis.
September - December (11 weeks)
Full-time students normally take three modules per term in the first two terms.
There are two hours of seminar time per module per week, and an emphasis on guided independent learning.
One-third of your degree is your dissertation. You begin planning and submit a proposal for your dissertation during term one.
January - April (12 weeks)
Full-time students normally take three modules per term in the first two terms.
During term two you are assigned a supervisor for your dissertation and carry out research for your chosen topic.
May – August
There are no more taught modules during term three. You’ll continue your research and writing ready to submit your dissertation at the end of August.

To secure your place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, you must meet both our general entry requirements and the specific criteria for your chosen course. Your application will be carefully reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will determine if you will receive an offer.

You should have, or expect to get, a 2:1 Honours degree in a relevant subject such as English language or literature, Media, Journalism, Communications (or another Humanities or Social Science degree).
In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, you will need to demonstrate that you have a good level of written and spoken English. You can demonstrate your level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications.
The University tuition fee covers the cost of your tuition, examination and graduation.

Part-time
We charge an annual tuition fee. The fees quoted are by full time or part time per year of study. For those studying courses over two or more years, the tuition fee will also be payable in subsequent years of your programme.
Tuition fees can be paid in full or in three instalments per year of study.
