Course structure
This course will run over four years full-time with an integrated foundation year, comprising of lectures, tutorials, assignments, laboratory work, quizzes and project-work, collaboratively supervised by research-led academics and industry engineers.

Designed for students needing preparatory education to meet entry requirement of our degree programme, the Foundation Year covers essential subjects like calculus and mechanics.
Successful completion guarantees progression to the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence BEng programme, requiring specific academic standards. You'll be immersed in the university environment with dedicated support.

Year 1
In Year one, you will develop a strong foundation in robotics, programming, and engineering. Gain essential skills in computing, mechanics, electrical engineering, and mathematics.
Hands-on Integrated Design Projects let you apply theory to real-world challenges, while Artificial Intelligence 1 introduces intelligent systems, preparing you for advanced robotics applications.
Year 2
Year 2
In the second year, you will be able to advance your robotics expertise with Mechatronics and Control Engineering, Artificial Intelligence 2, and Mechanical Design for Robotics 1.
Learn system integration, automation, and intelligent systems while applying your skills in an Integrated Design Project. Operating Systems and Systems Programming equips you with key software development skills for robotics applications.
Year 3
Year 3
Specialise in advanced topics like Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Robotics and Industrial Automation. Undertake an Individual Engineering Project, developing expertise in a chosen area.
Integrated Design Project 3 and Mechanical Design for Robotics 2 refine your problem-solving and innovation skills, preparing you for a career in robotics and automation.

Entry requirements
To gain a place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, you will need to meet our general entry requirements, as well as those specific to your course. Your application will be reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will decide whether your application should receive an offer.

To study at the University, you must be able to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English. Many applicants do this by submitting a recent IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE result, or by completing a Presessional English course.

Paying your tuition fees
Tuition fees are payable for each year of your programme. To help you manage the cost of study, you can pay fees in full or in three instalments per academic year.
To secure your place, you must pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit of AED 5,000 by the deadline stated in your Conditional Offer. This deposit will be deducted from your tuition fees.
Scholarships
