The Danford Collection of West African Art and Artefacts celebrates the extensive cultural traditions and artistic expression of countries in West Africa. The collection ranges from domestic and ceremonial objects to contemporary African art, with particular strength in Yoruba and Hausa objects. Alongside objects made to be used ceremonially, the collection also includes valuable commissions from individual carvers. Whilst the cultural and geographic origins of the Danford Collection are wide and disparate, common themes across the collection emerge. You will be introduced to some of these themes and have the opportunity to handle some of these objects.

The event will start at 13:15 and the meeting point is the Arts Building reception (R16 on the campus map). Please arrive five minutes before to ensure a prompt start. This tour is part of a wider programme of events, Tours and Talks, for further details please see our the registration link above.
