In this pre-recorded session, Archivist Jenny Childs will read extracts from her favourite archive collection held at the Cadbury Research Library, that of 19th century author Harriet Martineau. Harriet started losing her hearing at the age of 12, and in later life used an ear trumpet. This is the first of two talks about Harriet Martineau as part of the University of Birmingham’s programme of events for Disability History Month.

The session will be available to view from 18 November 2020 until the end of December.
