Li Siguang Lecture of Kevin Sui
Kevin Sui, Controller of China Hour UK

The China Institute is delighted to announce that veteran journalist and media owner Kevin Sui will deliver our annual China Institute Li Siguang lecture online at 19:00 Thursday 19 November, which will be streamed on YouTube.

Kevin’s lecture will explore how language can bring people and countries together – but not without an in-depth understanding of people and culture in each society.   Following the lecture there will be a panel discussion chaired by Professor Jon Frampton, Director of University of Birmingham China Institute, and featuring Dr Berny Sebe, Head of Internationalisation – School of Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music, Dr John Goodyear - Lecturer, English as a Modern Foreign Language, and Shiyu He - Postgraduate Researcher in Linguistics.

Kevin's career spans the past thirty years and covers newspaper, radio, TV and online media in both China and the UK. Prior to his current role, he worked as a reporter for Economic Daily of China and then went on to work for BBC World Service for eleven years before taking a commercial role at China Daily Europe.  He then started his own media company offering his TV programme China Hour on Sky (channel 192) and publishing an English travel magazine Amazing China for the UK market.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an interesting and engaging look at cross-cultural communication.
