Birmingham Qur'an Digital Exhibition UAE
- Dubai Campus, Exhibitions
The University of Birmingham in partnership with the British Council and with the support of the UAE Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development as strategic partner present an interactive digital exhibition about the Birmingham Qur’an manuscript including a detailed replica of the four page parchment document. The manuscript was radiocarbon dated to the early seventh century, making it one of the earliest examples of the Islamic holy book in existence. It is considered a global treasure and the original is held at the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Research Library.
The exhibition will tour the UAE, opening at the Sharjah International Book Fair (1-11 November,) then to Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi (20-29 November 2017), and to Atrium 6 of D3 Dubai Design District (19 April-3 May 2018). The exhibition will be combined with an education programme including talks, workshops and tours to engage students and the general public.
