Cataloguing the records of a women teachers union active from 1904 – 1961 has uncovered a surprising array of subjects and interests which members of the union were involved with. This has highlighted the huge variety of educational research areas which the archive could be used for. This paper introduces some of the content of this significant collection and discusses the ways in which cataloguing aids the process of historical research
