What Makes Science Fiction? (Year 11 & 12)

Location
University of Birmingham
Dates
Wednesday 13 November 2019 (13:00-15:00)
Science Fiction

Event Capacity: 30

Year Group: 11 - 12

Subject(s): English Literature, Creative Writing, Media Studies, Film

Attendee Requirements: None

About: In this session, students will discuss science fiction by writing a little of their own. Students don't need to know anything about Science Fiction to attend - in fact, a few outsider perspectives will actually improve things! As we try to figure out what the term "science fiction" actually means (nobody has come up with a really good definition yet) we'll also be thinking about what the skills from an English Literature GCSE/A-Level (or equivalent) might be useful for beyond school, whether or not students pursue a degree in the arts.

Additional Information: Schools will be limited to 5 places for this class. Individual bookings can be made by students in Year 12.
