This year, the University of Birmingham will host the first ‘Birmingham Proms in Chancellor’s Court’ on Saturday 11 June, a free outdoor evening concert for the whole community which will culminate in a spectacular firework display.

The University Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniele Rosina, will feature young opera stars and University Alumni, Lauren Morris and Philippa Althaus and an evening of full of Proms favourites, popular classics and songs from The Sound of Music.

The Birmingham Proms will form part of the annual University Summer Festival of Music, this year celebrating its 30th anniversary with 12 days of concerts and performances from Sunday 6 to Friday 17 June. This student-led festival highlights the year round activity of the University of Birmingham Music Society, and Department of Music.

This year the Summer Festival includes three performances of Britten’s The Beggar’s Opera, plus a variety of vocal, Jazz and chamber music concerts in the Bramall Music Building, The Barber Institute of Fine Arts and in venues across the city.
