CEPLER is delighted to welcome the first speaker of the year in the esteemed Leaders in Law Lecture Series.

Edward Fitzgerald CBE QC is a celebrated barrister, based in Doughty Chambers, whose awards have included Human Rights and Public Law Silk of the Year (2013), Silk of the Year (2005), and Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (2009). He specialises in criminal law, public law and international human rights and was awarded the CBE in 2005.

Edward has represented a number of high profile public figures, including former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, and his practice extends to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, where he successfully led the campaign to save the life of Yong Vi Kong, who had been sentenced to death.

Edward will be speaking on the theme of Foreign Fighters, Trial in the UK and the Death Penalty. This presents a unique opportunity to hear from a leading figure in the legal profession with an extraordinary career.
