Ice Age Explorers
Travel back with the Lapwprth Museum, to a time when mammoths marched across the landscape and humans were making their mark in Britain. Handle mammoth, Smilodon and cave bear artefacts, create mini cave bears and discover how giant ice sheets changed the shape of the UK, dropping boulders found in Birmingham today!
Timetable:
10am: Museum Opens
- 11:30 Ice Age talk with Lizzy (Learning and Community Development Officer) (all ages) [Education Room]
- 12:00 Explore an Ice Age Boulder! (With the Erratics Boulder of Birmingham Heritage Project)
- 12:30 Object Handling (With the Erratics Boulder of Birmingham Heritage Project) [5 minutes walk off-site. A group will walk together from the museum]
- 13:00 Story Time with Lizzy [Active Earth Zone]
- 14:00 Ice Age talk with Lizzy (Learning and Community Development Officer) (all ages) [Education Room]
- 14:30 Explore an Ice Age Boulder! (With the Erratics Boulder of Birmingham Heritage Project)
- 15:00 Object Handling (With the Erratics Boulder of Birmingham Heritage Project) [5 minutes walk off-site. A group will walk together from the museum]
- 15:30 Story Time with Lizzy [Active Earth Zone]

• Make your own Sabre-toothed Cat! (all ages) [Jurassic Seas area]
• Tilly Museum Trail (all ages)[Pick up a trail sheet at reception]
• Megalodon Tooth Hunt (all ages)[Pick up a trail sheet at reception]
