Hart of the Wood (Ways of the Plant)

Hart of the Wood (Ways of the Plant) is a bold new multidisciplinary art and film project, led by artist and filmmaker Benjamin Wigley, which celebrates humanity's ingrained relationship with the woods.

Hart of the Wood (Ways of the Plant) is the first part in a Triptych of works. This exhibition at the Lapworth Museum of Geology explores early tree life on planet earth.  Ben spent time responding to the Lapworth's extensive Carboniferous fossil collection; making images on 16mm motion picture film; processing the film by hand in his lab; and bringing the fossil slides directly into the darkroom to make Silver Gelatin, fibre-based, photographic prints.

This project was supported by Arts Council England, the Lapworth Museum of Geology and ART DOCS
