Network members will work together on two collaborative research projects. Network members and their partner police organisations will collate datasets of unsolved (linked-by-DNA) and convicted serial sexual offences/homicides. Standard protocols would be used to anonymise, code, and store data securely, and data sharing agreements will be agreed and implemented.
The datasets from each country will be collated by the Network Facilitator at the University of Birmingham. Comparative analysis of the unsolved and convicted crime series will be completed by Dr Jessica Woodhams at the University of Birmingham.
Using the same dataset, each network member will apply the statistical technique(s) for which they have particular expertise. The relative performance of the different statistical techniques will be assessed by Dr Bennell at Carleton University, Canada.
