About Healthcare Team Challenge™ West Midlands

Hosted by the Health Care Team Training Network and supported by Health Education West Midlands, the Health Care Team Challenge™ is a competition designed to educate the next generation of health professionals in collaborative patient-centred care.

The HCTC™ WM 2015 is to be held on 5th June at the Birmingham Medical Institute.

Student teams drawn from a range of professions and institutions will work together to respond to a complex case study and take part in activities designed to test their team work under pressure. The teams then present their plans to an audience and panel of expert judges who choose and overall winner.

The first of its kind in the Midlands, the competition will form part of an Away Day for clinical educators from universities and NHS Trusts across the West Midlands.

This is your chance to meet and compete with students from institutions across the Midlands in an action packed day with the emphasis firmly on fun and practical learning.

Once you have registered your interest you will be allocated to a team of 6-8 members. Your team will include students from a range of health care professions. We will send you details of your team and the scenario that you will need to prepare approximately one month before the event. You will be able to meet your team members and begin to prepare your plans at a preparatory event on the 21^stMay (4-8pm).  Whilst you may wish to familiarise yourself with this scenario and do some preliminary research in advance of this, we anticipate that most of your preparation will take place once you have met your team.

• This is an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team, the first of its kind in England.
• The scenario simulation you will work on will be very similar to clinical cases you will encounter and teams you will work in once you are fully qualified.
• You will have the opportunity to present to senior clinicians and to receive feedback on your plans.
• The chance to win the HCTC ™ WM Trophy and vouchers worth up to £75.
• The day will include keynote speakers who are senior clinical staff and carers.
• Certificates will be provided for all participants - with detailed learning outcomes - a desirable addition to your CV.
