Our libraries

The Main Library

The Main Library houses a general and specialist research level collection of texts especially strong in Baroque music, 20th-century English music and 20th-century Italian music. 

The collection includes

  • Collected editions
  • Over sixty current music journals
  • access to many rare and historic journal titles through electronic and paper holdings
  • Extensive microfilm collection
  • Vinyl recordings CDs and DVDs of historic performances

Special Collections

Cadbury Research Library: Special Collections holds a number of archive collections related to prominent composers available for research. Including: 

We have the Music Manuscript collection and the Shaw-Hellier Collection of eighteenth-century music manuscripts.

We also hold a significant collection of scores of musical works commissioned by the John Feeney Charitable Trust as first performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
