valerie-hughes-daethMrs Valerie Hughes D’Aeth – Group HR Director of Amey, her department recently won the ‘Best HR Team in the Private Sector’ at the HR Excellence Awards.

Valerie Hughes D’Aeth graduated from University of Birmingham in 1981 with a degree in Commerce. Currently a member of the Executive Committee for Amey for whom she won 6 HR awards in 2011, she has full responsibility for developing and delivering HR, communications and HSEA strategy for 12,000 employees. Valerie has worked for 30 years in HR with extensive experience of leading and consulting on all facets of HR including major restructuring, enhancing employee productivity and creating HR shared services. Her career began in retail as a Graduate Trainee and progressed to HR Manager at Selfridges. Since then, she has moved to a number of companies across Europe where she worked in roles such as European Recruiting Manager, Northern Europe HR Director, Compensation and Benefits Manager and UK HR director.
