Biography

I began my teaching career in London secondary schools, before moving to Italy, where I taught English and worked as a translator and interpreter.

Following completion of my MA at the University of Birmingham, I was involved in the creation of teaching materials for the Distance Learning MAs offered by CELS, and then began my association with the university as a tutor, marker and supervisor for the MA DL modes for both Translation Studies, and English Language and Applied Linguistics.

My experience includes being curriculum lead and mentor for trainee teachers, as well as teaching students preparing for the IOL Diploma in Public Service Interpreting.

My main interests are in discourse analysis, the application of corpora in the language and literature classrooms, syllabus design, and creation of teaching materials.
