My current research is focused on investigating the presence of physical and mental health diagnoses within the methodologies of Theatre Practice. My thesis explores the connections between acting methods, actor training, character development, and a 21st Century understanding of the ‘self’. My work aims to examine the practical application of medical diagnosis to acting methods and text-based character analysis; in doing so, I intend to create a historical snapshot of performance and character analysis in 21st Century Theatre.
