As part of the exciting collaboration between the Royal Shakespeare Company and the University of Birmingham, the RSC is offering 12 Drama and Theatre Arts students the opportunity to participate in a three-day Research and Development workshop, working on an RSC First Encounters with Shakespeare production.
The RSC’s First Encounters with Shakespeare productions are 90 minute adaptations of Shakespeare plays, aimed at 8-13 year olds, with the intention of providing children with a fun and engaging first experience of Shakespeare. During this Research and Development workshop, students will work as actors and participants with RSC director Robin Belfield on a future First Encounters with Shakespeare production.
The R&D work will specifically focus on how young people can be integrated into a First Encounter production alongside the professional cast.
