An exhibition and interactive event celebrating identity.

Students on the MA Shakespeare and Creativity programme will present  an original civic work in The Other Place, to a public audience.

Brought to you by Ruff and Tumble at the Shakespeare Institute, and in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company, we proudly present a unique, immersive and interactive art exhibition, centered around a catwalk runway. As you weave around our gallery, you will meet and interact with some of Shakespeare’s most famous and infamous identities. But will they be what you expect? Watch in awe as the music plays and the characters parade and jubilate down the catwalk in the climax of our event. But what happens when the masks come off?

Immerse yourself in this masquerade event, as we explore identity and celebrate who we are; our individual style and the marks we wear, our individual experiences and the core we share.

About Ruff and Tumble

Ruff and Tumble is the student run company created by the current cohort of MA Shakespeare and Creativity students at the Shakespeare Institute. Elements of the MA Shakespeare and Creativity programme are co-led with the RSC, which gives students the opportunity to study the life and work of Shakespeare while creating new works. These creative projects allow the students to take what they’ve learned about Shakespeare in the classroom and bring him into the community.
