The 18th Annual School of Education Doctoral Research Conference at the University of Birmingham brings together doctoral researchers, academics and practitioners to explore key issues and developments in educational research, policy, theory and practice to include a broad range of research areas, with a focus on equality and identity. The Conference includes a keynote presentation, papers in parallel sessions and a poster exhibition.

Call for papers

Submitting a presentation abstract

You are required to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words. Please bear in mind that your audience may not have expertise on your topic, though you can assume a broad familiarity with educational research, policy and practice. 

Submitting a poster

You are only required to submit a poster title. Posters should be no smaller than A3 (30cm x 42cm) and no bigger than A1 (84cm x 59cm). A prize of £25 (in the form of a voucher) will be awarded to the best poster at the conference.

The deadline for abstracts is 14 October 2019.

Registration, Submission and Fees

To register for the event please visit the online shop All attendees including those who do not wish to present a poster or presentation must register via this link prior to the conference.   Please note that there is a small fee of £10.00 to cover, catering printing and administrative costs. There is a discount for University of Birmingham students (£5.00), validated by student ID. Please only choose this option if you are a current University of Birmingham student with a valid student ID. For all other attendees, please select “Normal Conference Registration”.
