Palynology

palynologyPalynology is the study of inert organic remains or palynomorphs and includes pollen grains, spores, dinocysts, acritarchs and others.

This module focuses on the principles and applications of palynological investigation. It covers main phylogenetic & ecological changes in major Palaeozoic and post-Palaeozoic groups. We look at the stratigraphical applications of marine groups such as dinoflagellates, chitinozoa & acritarchs with complimentary studies of non-marine groups such as spores and pollen. The principles of palynofacies analysis are also introduced.
