Biography

  • Experience in the use of resistivity, electromagnetic, borehole logging, gravity, induced-polarisation, seismic refraction and magnetic techniques in environmental and groundwater investigations in the U.K. and overseas
  • Developer of electrical imaging survey techniques and inventor of the Offset Wenner system of resistivity sounding
  • Director (1990-2004) of Alta Geophysics Research Unit, A geophysics consultancy, part of Birmingham Research and Development Ltd, the University of Birmingham owned research company
  • Director of Campus Geophysical Instruments Ltd, a company specialising in the development and manufacture of electrical imaging and resistivity equipment (1986-2001)
  • Lecturer in Environmental Geophysics (1983-2004) University of Birmingham
  • Chairman of the Environmental and Industrial Geophysics Group of the Geological Society (1998-2000)
  • Chairman of the Near Surface Geosciences Group of EAGE (2001-2004)
  • Associate Editor of the journal Near Surface Geophysics
